Art Show

For once not an artwork of mine but a visit to other people's artworks.
My sister L was once again the co-ordinator of the Leopold Primary School Art show and Leaf & Stone were sponsors of the Contemporary Prize this year. This means that we get to choose a painting, as well as donate a prize to the judges choice winner.
We chose a watercolour of a Rainbow Trout on a Plate, by Louise Price. It conveys the wonderful sheen that these fish have, with the purply/aqua colours and the spots.  We like it a lot and now have to do some rearranging of wall space to hang it!
The show was of the usual high standard and there were many other paintings that we liked. We were pleased that Jill Shalless, who runs Dabble 'n' Daub( in the Wintergarden building where Leaf & Stone is located), won the Prize for Oil Paintings. Photo of fish to follow!

APC's swap

Two of these went off for my first one on one APC swap with a member of the group from Rhode Island.  The others are just the ones I have finished so far.

First ATC's

Here are the ATC's I made with the crayon batik backgrounds.
The sheets looked more exciting cut into small pieces.
These are the ones I did for the St Brigid's Cross swap (the first swap within Australia) We had to use the cross as the inspiration for the cards

APC's and ATC's

I've started dabbling in APC's and ATC's
These are Artist's Post Cards and Artist's Trading Cards.
Post cards are the obvious 4x6 size while ATC's are playing card size or 2.5x3.5 inches (or 64 x 89mm)
Here are a couple I did for a friend from the knitting group using the torn paper backgrounds

On the left are my first crayon batik explorations - I have once again been flabbergasted to have my work chosen for the group's Home page art this month!

More numbers

Here is the final batch of numbers. We were all fooled at Ten thinking that was the end- how were we to know that Zero was lurking!!

By the Numbers

Here are the latest gluebook pictures.
I've been honoured once again to have my artwork on the Home page of the Gluemonkeys' site the spread with One & Two was the one chosen.
I thought for a while before choosing which way to jump on the numbers. Should I do the relevent number of things on each page or should it be different.
I liked the idea of illustrating a saying or quotation so that's what I've done so far, although it starts to get tricky with seven and eight!
Sometimes finding the right picture triggers the idea, other times I have to go looking for the pictures to match the saying.
The great part of gluebooks is the serendipity that sometimes happens when just the right pic jumps into view.

Fat Book Happy Dance

I'm so excited!!!
I got my very first art swap item back today and it really is a beauty.
The Watercolour Collage fat book swap had 54 people join, so I had to send off 54 pages of my work.
Belinda did all the hard work of binding them and posting them back .
I now have the most exquisite little "fat" artwork to enjoy.  You get one from each participant.
Here are just a few of the pages, the backs of some are almost as beautiful as the fronts.
