Worked on the Silk, Lace and other Finery journal.
The pages I decided to use were between 2 other works which had each used lace along the edge of the page, so I "borrowed" the lace - like borrowing a view.
The pages already done were in the most part really gorgeous and I was pretty nervous about mucking up. I stared at the page and suddenly up popped the image of Peggy Guggenheim in the 30s, which I have as a sepia photo from a magazine - Bingo - theme established.
I coloured the background with gold, orange and hot pink acrylic paint mixed as I took it off the palette and smooshed on roughly. It gave a nice shimmery effect.
Photo glued on and connected to the page with gold tissue and leftover yarn. Opposite page has a "picture window" of fabric outlined in silk ribbon, tacked with sequins. Bottom edge trimmed with a gorgeous red and gold torn paper and the over the top element added with 3 shiny gold flamingos, just for the sheer exoticness /exoticity/ exoticism (...got there in the end!)
